Meet Karen
For 50 years I have maintained a private teaching studio in my home in Elton Hills. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in piano performance from the University of Minnesota and am a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music. Teaching is my passion and I plan to continue for years to come! I love teaching students of all ages and abilities, including adults. As an extra perk, students can play with my two adorable cats while waiting for their lesson.
I tailor my teaching style to fit each student. Since a balanced musical diet includes many different kinds of music, my students are always working in several different styles. Fun music is included because I believe it’s important to listen to each student’s interests and to keep their strengths in mind. Music theory and technique are an important part of every lesson.
Performance is an essential part of musical growth, so I provide ample opportunities, including two recitals a year and a Christmas concert.
