For over 40 years I have maintained a private teaching studio in my home in Elton Hills. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in piano performance from the University of Minnesota and am a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music. (Go to the MN Music Teachers Association website if you’d like to know more about what is required to be nationally certified.) Teaching is my passion and I plan to continue for years to come! I love teaching students of all ages and abilities, including adults.
I tailor my teaching style to fit each student. Since a balanced musical diet includes many different kinds of music, my students are always working in several different styles. Fun music is included because I believe it’s important to listen to each student’s interests and to keep their strengths in mind. Music theory and technique are an important part of every lesson.
Performance is an essential part of musical growth, so I provide ample opportunities, including two recitals a year and a Christmas concert at a care center. I am a member of the MN Music Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association, and my students are eligible to participate in all of the contests and other events sponsored by MMTA. However, participation is optional. As an extra perk, your child can play with my two adorable cats while waiting for his/her lesson!
